Hi all,

the last IAB technical plenary was focused on the smart object topic.
Already before the meeting a few IAB member said that it would be useful
to develop our view on the topic. Together with Danny I started to work
on a writeup but it was not ready in time for the IETF meeting. During
the plenary someone asked about the IAB's view and I promised to
distribute a writeup soon.

Now we have an initial draft available, which had been circulated within
the IAB for review, and Russ suggested to contact you, the Smart Object
Directorate, for feedback.

So, here we are. Please find the current version of the draft at
https://raw.github.com/hannestschofenig/tschofenig-ids/master/smart-object-iab/draft-iab-smart-object-statement-00.txt

It would be great to get your input.

Ciao
Hannes

Hi all,

I just noticed a minor thing regarding the Smart Object webpage
http://www.ietf.org/iesg/directorate/smart-object.html. It indicates a
mailing list and says:
"
The Smart Power Directorate can be reached at smartobjectdir@ietf.org.

The smartobject-interest@ietf.org mail list is available for open
discussion of topics related to Smart Power.
"

For those who are not familiar with IETF mailing lists it might be good to

* state that the directorate mailing list is a closed list, and
* add a link to the open mailing list for subscription, namely to
https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/smartobject-interest

Given the number of messages on the smartobject-interest list I am
wondering whether the purpose of the list is not clear or whether it
isn't known to most people.

Ciao
Hannes

PS: Is there a chair / main contact person for the directorate?
