Hi Robert,

w.r.t.: "* Add a new tab for IPR disclosures (probably showing how
many there are in
the tab title: e.g. "IPR disclosures (2)").

Are you asking for an IPR column in the WG page display of WG docs,
individual drafts and RFCs? If so - I can take a swing at that in
Beijing - since I was messing around there last time.

All;

Lars indicated he may have a travel conflict on the 3rd Wed in Oct =
(20th) and in Dec (15th).

Any other problems moving the Tools call to the 3rd week of the month?

I don't think that's what the person originally suggesting that had in =
mind, but it sounds like a good idea!

My read of the suggestion below was to add a tab to the main document =
view. There has been work done in the
meantime that probably obviates the suggestion (at least the tab part) - =
there is a link on the document's main page.
It might be reasonable to include the # of disclosures in the text of =
that link.

Here is the notes for today's call. Please note that my Internet was =
shaky and I couldn't dial back to the phone I was sitting next to, so =
some of the conversation was garbled. Please take extra care to review =
these notes and correct anything that I may have misrepresented or =
missed entirely.

Thanks,

Attendees:

Ray Pelletier
Bob Hinden
Julian Reschke
Steve Conte
Robert Sparks
Henrik Levkowetz
Russ Housley
Alexa Morris
Glen Barney

0. Bash the Agenda

1. Beijing Code Sprint=20

SC: will work with Marcia to ensure that there will be wired connections =
in the=20
codesprint room. Also to reconfirm the room

RH: Will someone be willing to add search button to tracker so if logged =
in as AD you=20
get search of 3 lists, and if not, then you get 2 lists (no iesg). Glen =
completed
the backend work. To help ensure that last calls will not be missed by =
people

RjS: adding to list

RH: Assuming that search will be prioritized, Glen; has the AD accounts =
been set up so
it'll work as soon as the search button appears.

GB: Yes, it appears that they have and can easily reset passwords if =
needed

RjS: expect to be able to test liasion tool and idsubmission. Will =
these tools be ready
for testing in codesprint?

RH: we think it will be ready but HL has work to do (for idsubmission)

RjS: liasion tool?

RH: was almost finished but items were found during first alpha test =
that would be nice.
Should be finished before sprint.

RjS: so testing @ sprint should take place

2. Mission Critical Tools Move

RH: architectural question; rfcdiff is using the tools archive of =
internet drafts if
you want to look at an expired or replaced draft and compare it. =
Historically, they've
not been avail on ietf.org (only tools), but must be avail for rfcdiff =
to work correctly.
The question is do we want to keep them where they are or move them to =
production site
(big policy change). Requests advice so RH can take policy question to =
iesg

HL: was hoping that they'd be someday 'officially' available. =20

(room): There's many versions of the archives available across the =
internet

Suggest we make one version official and move it to production.

HL: AMS version may not be complete and suggest a tool to create a full =
version of
archives

RH: Glen, how hard would it be to find out how many drafts are missing =
from AMS archive
GB: Unsure at this moment, but will find out
RjS: may be worthwhile to do a diff -r on both repositories to see if =
any files with
same filenames have different diffs in them
RH: need a server that'll hold both, Anyone?
GB: AMS should have enough space for this. HL to provide directory to =
copy

idnits:

HL isn't sure that the new idnits has been announced yet and suggests =
that it be
announced.

GB: some infrastructure changes need to be made to correct the tools =
pointers to
the new tools

xml2rfc:

RH: long thread discussing this. wanted to make some changes to support =
boilerplate
that rfc ed needs. is pagination important? hoping to find 2 things:
1- who will make changes to current TCL code to support boiler
2- which approach to take going forward for contract help

JR: only person who can do it is Tony, and may be able to do it during =
sprint. Doesn't
think change is complicated but requires TCL knowledge.=20

3. NomCom Tools Support

HL: moved files, however there are a number of additional things needing =
to be done.
(garbled, cannot discern details)

RH: would like to see this nomcom not disrupted but moved for the next =
nomcom and do=20
all prep work to ensure it happens.

4. IT Tools Development Overview

RP: (showing page w/ 24 items)
3 items highlighted in yellow are work that's awaiting work
11 bold items in work - almost $200k of work
7 projects completed

This is what is expected to be accomplished or in work in Y2010

Russ asks to review Paul's drafts: draft-ietf-genarea*

IAOC approved budget going to ISOC board for approval

5. Asia Server Update

HL: server up and running, items installed and could do complete install =
but have=20
delayed to encourage [?person?] to do it. He's looked at the server and =
will do a complete=20
install and fix the items. Server should be up fairly soon.

6. Other

Henrik to order a new server, haven't decided yet.

Regarding this agenda item:

On 2010-10-19 22:26 Ray Pelletier said:

> 2. Mission Critical Tools Move

and the discussion on I-D archives:

I've checked the numbers, and while there's about 63015 text files
which starts with draft- in the tools repository, the equivalent
count for the archive on www.ietf.org is only 41578. In other words,
there seems to be quite a number of drafts missing from the official
archive.

Hi Glen,

I've rsynced the content of the tools I-D repository to www.ietf.org,
it's now available at /a/www/www6s/tools-id-archive/ (next to the
regular draft-archive). Regular rsyncs will be needed to keep it
up-to-date. I would love to suggest that you could keep it up-to-date
by rsyncing from the official archive, but that contains tombstone
files which will cause no end of trouble if you introduce them in
the repository which the idnits and rfcdiff tools uses. (They
cause no end of troubles elsewhere by their presence in the official
repository, but that's a different peeve.) For now, till we can fix
that particular mess, you can continue to rsync from tools with what
I used most recently:

  sudo -u wwwrun rsync -avz rsync.tools.ietf.org::tools.id/ /a/www/www6s/tool-id-archive/

Best,

	Henrik

CC'ing the tools team. It should be super easy to make the datatracker =

very nice.)

(So far I have been relying on there being enough diversity that some
people file a DISCUSS and COMMENT, others a DISCUSS, and yet others a
COMMENT. But it only goes so far.)

We have recently had a number of cases where an IRTF stream document ended
up on the wrong part of the agenda. After the document was reviewed by an
AD, they issued a ballot but the document ended up on the agenda as an ietf
stream document.

Two recent examples were draft-katagi-clefia and
draft-irtf-rrg-recommendation, which appeared on the telechat agenda under
section 3.2.2 (Individual Submission Via AD, Returning Items) instead of
3.3.1. We were not ready to make a recommendation regarding
draft-irtf-rrg-recommendation, so it was moved to the Nov 18 agenda. Once
again, this draft appears in section 3.2.2; it really should be in 3.3.2
(Independent Submissions, Returning items).

I am guessing this is a tools bug, although it could be driver error. I
can=B9t figure out where I went wrong with the clefia draft, though. (The =
rrg
doc isn=B9t mine... Can't say anything about that one.)

Could we add this to list of issues to be addressed? This is a minor issue=
,
since we can fix it with an email to the secretariat, but it does have
greater impact since most directorates use the telechat agenda as one facto=
r
in assigning reviews. Since the security directorate (and I presume all
other directorates) do not review irtf and independent stream submissions
this does consume precious engineering cycles needlessly.

Thanks,

Tim Polk

Yep. Personalizing the subject line would be awesome.

Adding this to the sprint list as ticket #530

This is related to what I sent out earlier about the ->contents<- of the =
email that gets sent out as well (copied at the end for convenience).

One question on the subject line. In the past people have been concerned =
about having the "important" information of the subject
appear as early as possible, citing convenience in spotting it in pop-up =
notifications like growl provides, or making it easy to see
on phone email readers. Is this still important? I note that we will =
eventually have an IESG with two people with the same first name,
so full names on the subject will have to happen.=20

Would you rather see

1) Adrian Farrel's DISCUSS and COMMENT on =
draft-ietf-rediculously-long-name-99
2) draft-ietf-rediculously-long-name DISCUSS/COMMENT: Adrian Farrel
3) DISCUSS/COMMENT draft-ietf-rediculously-long-name-99 Adrian Farrel

or some other permutation?

I have a mild leaning for 3)

We could use just first names (assuming the tracker makes this easy) for =
now and leave breadcrumbs for someone to
change it later if we have a name collision.

What about the version number - for my purposes, that is pretty =
important. I would be willing to remove the .txt.

I'm not sure I understand why you need the version number, but for sure
your process needs it for something. Anyway, I'm grepping for the draft
name without the version number, because that lets me find the right
mails regardless of any intervening draft updates (that might affect
this or some other discuss). I'd prefer not to have extra characters
like "<>", or the ".txt".
