The plan is updated. We'll be talking about much of it in later sections.
Note that I've up-leveled what's on the MergePlan page - I'm trying to make
it's focus more on the near-term high-level big changes that might disrupt
people working in other parts of the system. There are more details (and a
longer view) in the PLAN file that page links to.
For this part of the call, please skim those pages to make sure we have
are reflecting relative priorities correctly.

This is accepted and deployed. We are getting lots of change requests and
requests for new features, and have been working through them rapidly.
See
<https://trac.tools.ietf.org/tools/ietfdb/report/33> for the currently
open tickets.

<https://trac.tools.ietf.org/tools/ietfdb/report/28> shows a summary of
what we've recently closed (in all components, not just the /review
component)

Alexey is still gathering information and the IESG is still discussing
what decision they are willing to make. Given the impending holidays, I
don't expect we will do anything to production until mid-January. I
don't think we need to spend time on this during tomorrow's call.

The migration to Django 1.8 is pretty much done; I've merged the work
to trunk and I'm running final tests now, before committing and releasing=
=2E

In addition to deprecations and backward-incompatible changes, Django 1.8=

introduced type checking of foreign-key and many-to-many-key arguments wh=
en
doing database queries. This brought to light a number of places where
we provided the wrong argument types (or multiple inconsistent argument
types) to queries. These have all been fixed, and the code is more solid=

as a result.

Next up is migration to Django 1.9.

I meant to mention: Thre new-ish things that are on the list to check
the relative priorities for:

* The IESG would like the downref registry moved into the datatracker
and to have it integrated with last call generation
* The IESG would like a view of recent ballots by telechat to help
* We should add an API to allow meetecho to associate recordings with
sessions as soon as they become available.

We currently have these prioritized as seen at
<https://trac.tools.ietf.org/tools/ietfdb/browser/trunk/PLAN>, after the
htmlization of document views and the next round of improvements to the
Yang checker.

They should be getting a message as soon as the document is scheduled on
a telechat already.
See :
<https://datatracker.ietf.org/mailtrigger/name/doc_telechat_details_changed/>

I did a quick skim through the code and all the paths that set a
telechat date are using that unless I missed something.
Do you have an example where a shepherd _didn't_ get notified recently?

I don=92t remember having received one. For example, =
draft-ietf-6man-default-iids is on the IESG agenda for 12/15/2016. I =
chair 6MAN, but I don=92t think I have received a notice for that =
meeting. Reading the trigger page, I assume I should have received an =
email.

Before we give up on the thread, maybe we should poke at whether you
really missed it, or if it was so long ago it wasn't relevant?
(Are we sending the information you really want at the right time?)

Yes, I expected we would wrangle volunteers or maintenance time to do these.

I don't think any of them are _big_. The downref registry move is the
largest, and only because importing the information that's in the wiki
(history) will require some research. If I were to do it, I think it
would take less than a week. The other two are probably a day or so each.

It would be helpful if it included something to make it easier to add to =
my calendar. Ideally an .ics file that included the webex info.

Hi,

I took a quick look at the thread view in the new archive tool and
am a bit confused at what I'm seeing. I'm comparing:

https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=netconf&gbt=1&q=netmod+wg

and

    https://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/netmod/current/threads.html

The latter provides threading that is pretty aligned with what you'd see
in a mailer thread view (and what folks used to see). The former has
threading for some messages but not others, as an example check out how
the following shows in both:

  * /Subject/: Re: [netmod] [Netconf] WG adoption poll
    draft-nmdsdt-netmod-revised-datastores-00
  * /From/: Andy Bierman <andy at yumaworks.com <mailto:andy@DOMAIN.HIDDEN>>
  * /Date/: Tue, 13 Dec 2016 13:51:50 -0800

Is the current view expected behavior and if so can someone explain
what's going on. (If not, where's the right place to open a ticket?)

Hi Lou,

I would expect the new archive tool to have a thread view more in line =
with that
displayed in MHonArc. I am not sure why some messages aren=E2=80=99t =
being indented but
I will investigate. Thank you for reporting this issue.=20

Ryan

And if you find anything else that should be captured as a ticket, we're
currently capturing those issues in the same instance of trac that we're
using for the datatracker (the 'report a bug' link on the datatracker
will get you there) using the 'MailArchive: User Interface' component.

I identified an issue with some recent messages that were sent to more =
then one
IETF list not being indented properly in the thread view. This problem =
has been resolved.

Thanks ryan. It looks better.

The "next" navigation is broken at least in mobile view

1) go to wg
2) select thread view
3) select last message
4) navigate to message via arrow
Question: is there a reason to being able to select message without
navigating the link?
5) select thread view at bottom of message
6) select next at bottom of list

Result is you end up back on the same page.

Lou

You can go straight to the arrow - you don't have to select the message
first.

Yes - rapid scanning of messages in the preview pane below. Using the up
and down arrows on your keyboard will go from message to message.
(But it looks like this morning, something's not right - reporting the
issue to Ryan).

Hi all,

Below is an update on the website revamp project from Joe and myself.

Please let us know if we can provide additional information.

Thanks,
-Greg

www.ietf.org revamp update
2016-12-19

1) Acceptance from Torchbox
Recommendation:

Acceptance from Torchbox (i.e. payment of final invoice) should be tied =
to the deliver of a CMS, site architecture, and page templates that =
meets the functional and technical requirements in the SOW. That is:

a) Templates and CMS editing system work as designed and meet the needs =
of content editors, as determined by the Secretariat. There are =
currently several bugs filed with Torchbox that must be resolved before =
this is satisfied. See:=20

https://github.com/ietf/www.ietf.org/labels/cms%20bug=20

b) HTML pages produced by the CMS:

	i) are valid HTML 5
ii) are available by both HTTP and HTTPS
iii) comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)=20
iv) render on a variety of devices as expected

The specific tools and methods for confirming the revamped site meets =
these criteria should be guided by input from the Community Review =
Committee (CRC), and will be finished by a specified date. Notifing the =
CRC by 12 January with input and final validation complete by 25 January =
seems reasonable.

Beyond acceptance from Torchbox, testing will be conducted to ensure the =
revamped website content meets functional requirements for key =
audiences. These requirements, as specified in the SOW, include the =
ability to understand how to complete common tasks, and the number of =
clicks needed to reach often used resources. Further detail is provided =
in the Community Rollout section below.

2) Performance
There are two areas of performance have been identified for further =
attention:=20

a) Server resources
Concerns about server resource usage by Elastiscearch, have been raised =
by AMS. Suggested steps to remedy this:

i) Ask Torchbox for guidance regarding configuring Elasticsearch (early =
January)
ii) AMS will investigate Elasticsearch (early January)

b) User experience
In parallel, concerns about page load times have been raised. Recent =
testing shows that the load times for https://www7.ietf.org have been =
much improved. However, we will continue to focus on this as a key area =
of improved by:

i) optimizing images and other assets used by the CMS
ii) investigating further possibilities for user experience improvement =
during the community testing phase

3) Content transition update
Further content has been transitioned and work continues to complete =
creation of new content. Some CMS bugs have created slight further =
delays to the schedule. We will conduct a status inventory during the =
first week of January to assess next steps. The status of the content =
transition can be found here:

=
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LCk9Fn2kdeJPNPg5z5yIDmHs8KM_HEKbDS=
4k2PVLNSo/edit?usp=3Dsharing

(This is updated nearly daily.)

In parallel, documentation is being created for maintaining the content =
in the new CMS:

=
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jBrml8Ub9TJs_lXg831FivUkLKa4xav8sm2Arc=
wMNpI/edit?usp=3Dsharing

(This is updated as new kinds tasks are completed, roughly weekly.)

4) Community rollout plans

The general approach to rollout remains:

a) IETF/IAOC leadership update
b) Revampers review
c) preview to IETF community
d) Task testing with key audience groups
e) Testing with IETF Community

The project is still on track to complete rollout to the IETF community =
before IETF 98.

5) 2017 development and maintenance
During the testing and rollout process, requested feature enhancements =
will be collected. For the current list, see:

https://github.com/ietf/www.ietf.org/labels/enhancement

A particular focus will be on ensuring the IETF Wagtail installation =
remains on the current stable production release version.

There is currently a modest budget allocated for 2017 to anticipate =
further development requests for Torchbox. The feature requests should =
be prioritized and by the Tools team to match the highest value =
improvements to the available resources.=

When a WG Chair requests a meeting session, the datatracker sends a note =
to the WG mail list as session_request_developers@ietf.org. It would be =
good if there was a single identity used by the datatracker for such =
notes so that one identity can be whitelisted for all mail lists.

Russ
