Updated. The releases since last time has been related to meeting fixes,=

the ietf-100 sprint, and more meeting-related fixes. Work on an API for
IESG ballot posting is progressing in a separate branch; should be ready
for merge and release during the next week.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to send this note out so close to today=E2=80=99s call but there =
are some IPR tooling updates that need to be prioritized and inserted =
into the queue. At the IETF 100 WG Chairs Forum, Jorge Contreras =
presented on =E2=80=9CThe Whys and Whats of bcp79bis=E2=80=9D and out of =
that discussion emerged a few working group chairs feature requests. The =
requests are captured here: =
https://trac.ietf.org/trac/wgchairs/wiki/WGChairsForum and are:=20

1) Update disclosure form to include fields required by BCP79bis
Right now there is one field that asks for =E2=80=9CPatent, Serial, =
Publication, Registration, or Application/File number(s), Date(s) =
granted or applied for, Country, and any additional notes=E2=80=9D and =
the information is not validated. As a result, it=E2=80=99s often the =
case that users provide only some of the information. The intent is to =
have fields for each of the requested bits of info. =20

2) Make sure IPRs disclosures follow RFCs that update or obsolete other =
RFCs

3) Simplify process to update an existing disclosure and/or note if =
it=E2=80=99s no longer applicable

Jorge and I met after the session to review the online form together and =
Henrik joined us to discuss options.=20

Can we briefly discuss on the call today so that they are inserted into =
the queue and prioritized appropriately?

Thanks,
Alexa

When I provisionally entered the item to do these IPR disclosure changes
to the planned work, I placed it in position 16 in the queue. It probabl=

should be moved up. This is also the case for the Django 1.11 upgrade.

Here is an excerpt from the PLAN file as it looks at the moment, truncate=

after the IPR item:

* Add an API to post IESG ballot comments

* Revisit the review tool, work through the accumulated tickets.

* Add sanitization of uploaded html documents.

* Introduce an API for Meetecho to use to associate recordings with sessi=

* Upgrade html5lib to the latest release, the same for bleach which uses =

* Test suite improvements. Reduce and seek to eliminate causes of differ=

* Rework email sending so that all emails sent by the datatracker, except=

* Polish the htmlization pages, making the style identical with

* Revisit RFC author ordering and author information based on rfc-index.x=

* Revisit photo uploads: Add photo upload for people with roles. Add

A note re: IPR tooling request from the WG chairs forum

Alexa wrote:

The current tool does the right thing when searching by RFC number. =
Example: searching by 5234 returns results for 7 documents =
(https://datatracker.ietf.org/ipr/search/?draft=3D&rfc=3D5234&submit=3Drfc=
).

Apparently it's the *intended* obsoleting (or updating) relationship =
that is desired. When I asked about it, Ben Campbell clarified:
> the situation we were talking about is where draft-ietf-wg-RFCXXXXbis =
does not automatically show disclosures against RFCXXXX. Once that RFC =
is published as RFCYYYY obsoleting RFCXXXX, the =93obsoleted=94 =
relationship fixes the problem. But usually working groups are making =
IPR related decisions against the draft, not the final RFC.

Thanks,
Alice=

Aha. That was valuable. Thank you. I've updated the description in
the priority list too, in order to not loose track of this.

Hi,

        As you know we're using youtube for scaled out video
distribution.  I just noticed that it is possible to download
transcriptions of any uploaded video, even in multiple languages.  The
api is quite simple [1] and it looks like it would not be much effort to
automatically download all transcriptions and make these available to at
least the WG chairs/secretaries for use in preparing minutes.

I have no idea who is managing code sprint or volunteer projects now a
days, but I suspect this would be a huge win for all with little effort.

Thoughts?

Lou

If I understand the interface correctly, it will let you download
existing caption tracks (and add/update) caption tracks, too; but
I don't see any indication of automatic creation of caption tracks.

So the suggestion below only seems worthwhile if someone first does
a transcription and uploads it.

Hi Henrik,

Input file: draft-ietf-curdle-ssh-ext-info-15
id2xml version: 1.4.0
Issue: =93Updates" truncation
Level: Minor
Files available:=20
=
https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/v3test/draft-ietf-curdle-ssh-ext-info-15.or=
iginal
=
https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/v3test/draft-ietf-curdle-ssh-ext-info-15.or=
iginal.xml

Just an FYI that it looks like there is some trouble translating the =
=93Updates=94 field when it contains a comma-separated list.

=46rom .original
Updates: 4252, 4253, 4254 (if approved)=20

=46rom .xml
<rfc submissionType=3D=93IETF" =
docName=3D"draft-ietf-curdle-ssh-ext-info-15.txt" category=3D"std" =
updates=3D"4254=94>

[Note - this also occurs if there is an =93and=94 before the final value =
or if there is a different number of updated RFCs.]

When we removed the commas (as in the following), the xml output was =
correct:

Updates: 4252 4253 4254 (if approved)
or
Updates: 4252 4253 and 4254 (if approved)

Translated in xml to:

<rfc submissionType=3D"IETF" =
docName=3D"draft-ietf-curdle-ssh-ext-info-15.txt" category=3D"std" =
updates=3D"4252, 4253, 4254=94>

Note - we get correct output for each of the following:

Updates: 4252 and 4253
Updates: 4252 & 4253

We will continue to manually update the comma-separated versions unless =
we hear from you that it can be addressed with the tool.

Happy holidays!

Megan

Huh. That's silly and unnecessary. The tool should handle that better.

I've fixed this in my sources; it will be part of the next release.

Thanks for the alert!

Henrik,

Thank you for the quick turnaround!

May I add one further request that is not document specific?

We were discussing the fact that other tools include a comment =
mentioning the tool=20
of their creation along with the date and time.

For example, the current xml2rfc output of nroff includes this comment:
.\" automatically generated by xml2rfc v2.7.0 on 2017-07-13T22:16:35Z

This would be helpful for our internal processing as we implement id2xml =
on more and more files.

Whenever you make your next release (obviously not high priority), would =
it be possible to add=20
something along those lines? =20

Thank you.

Megan
