Hi,

This is an automatic notification about a new datatracker release,
v3.15, generated when running the mkrelease script.

Release notes:

ietfdb (3.15)
This is a minor bugfix release.
  * Fix the weekday-dependent plenary information in the materials list.
  * In urls under /wg/, only accept wgnames which adhere to the constraints
currently practiced. (Before this change, the URL patterns would match wg
names containing non-ascii characters, which later would bomb due to mix of
collations when accessing the database. Might as well return a 404 at once
    instead).
  * Don't return 500 if the /meeting/agenda/agenda.ics URL is without query part.
  * Get rid of a print statement used during testing.

The new version is available through SVN checkout, with
  'svn checkout http://svn.tools.ietf.org/svn/tools/ietfdb/tags/3.15'

Regards,

	Henrik
	(via the mkrelease script)

Hi,

This is an automatic notification about a new datatracker release,
v3.16, generated when running the mkrelease script.

Release notes:

ietfdb (3.16)
This is a minor bugfix release.
  * Merged in [3029] from esanchez@yaco.es. Make the Cc: field of new
    liaisons editable.
  * Set the 'person' field of the LegacyLiaisonUser in the admin interface
to be handled as a raw id field with search button, rather than as a choice
list. This should make admin updates involving the LegacyLiaisonUser table
    much speedier.
  * Added a new fix for empty query strings to /meeting/agenda/agenda.ics.
(The QUERY_STRING in request.META is not set the same way under the builtin
server as under Apache; under apache there will be a QUERY_STRING entry wich
    is explicitly Null. Handles this.)
  * Included a javascript change not previsously merged in from branch/yaco/liaison/.

The new version is available through SVN checkout, with
  'svn checkout http://svn.tools.ietf.org/svn/tools/ietfdb/tags/3.16'

Regards,

	Henrik

Dear IETF Leadership -

As you will hopefully remember, at IETF80 it was decided to proceed with =
a server upgrade and failover test, and the dates and details were =
announced by Russ on the IETF-ANNOUNCE list.

This is just a reminder that the process begins today, in approximately =
one hour.

We will bring the old server down into a standby mode (the server will =
be up but services like web, FTP, mail and rsync will be halted), do a =
final controlled synchronization of data from the old server in Fremont =
to the new server in Orlando, update the zone files, and then bring the =
new server online.

We will then operate for approximately two weeks out of Orlando, during =
which time we will correct any problems. =20

During the latter half of the period we will prepare a new, identical =
(clone) server here in Fremont, and, on Monday April 25th we will fail =
back to Fremont using the same procedure.

Please remember - although I *hope* for no problems, I always *expect* =
that there will be problems. We will be monitoring things from here, =
and the new server will have actual monitored coverage for 22 hours a =
day during the few days after each failover, just to make sure things =
work. Please report problems in the usual manner (to IETF-ACTION). If =
you feel the need, you can email me directly out of band at =
glen@amsl.com.

Thank you for your patience as we work to test our failover facility, =
and implement these upgrades to improve the services we provide to the =
IETF.

Glen

Dear IETF Leadership -

I'm very pleased to report that the failover process is completed, and =
everything at this stage appears to be working well.

We've tested the website, datatracker, ticketing system, mail system, =
mailman (you're seeing this message), and other systems, and we appear =
to be functioning well.

Of course, we will continue to monitor and correct problems as they're =
found.

In the meantime, expect some slowness over the next few hours as =
backlogged mail from around the world gets sent in and processed.

By tomorrow at this time, that flow should be caught up and all should =
be well.

As always, we will be monitoring, and any questions, please let us know!

Glen

Dear IETF Leadership -

Just a follow-up message regarding this failover.

As you will recall, this failover had a dual purpose of testing both the
Orlando facility, and also deploying us to an upgraded server, consisting
of new operating system and software versions.

I'm pleased to report that everything went exactly as planned. We were
down for 2 hours and 3 minutes, and successfully executed the failover
with no immediate issues apparent. All systems appear to be working at
this stage, and things look good.

We are noting a bit of slowness at this stage, due to the heavy load of
traffic coming in which is resulting in high utilization levels at the
Orlando facility. We will monitor this overnight, and increase our
bandwidth allocation there if it becomes necessary to do so.

As I said previously, we will continue to monitor. Our fail back is
scheduled for Monday April 25th, and that should be equal in effect,
with even fewer bumps, since we will be failing back to an identical
clone of the upgraded server we are now operating on. Approximately
45 days thereafter, our new higher-bandwidth circuit will be installed
in Fremont, resulting in even further operating improvements.

Thank you all for your support, as always!

Now it's time for some birthday cake! :-)

Glen

Hi,

This is an automatic notification about a new datatracker release,
v3.50, generated when running the mkrelease script.

Release notes:

ietfdb (3.50)
  * For this release, the idsubmit port from esanchez@yaco.es has been merged
in, which constitute substantial added functionality. This integrates the
draft upload functionality with the python/django datatracker; it improves
draft submission handling and security, and fixes problems with database
breakage and inconsistency caused by the old implementation. With this also
comes a major improvement of author extraction from draft text, provided by
    the ietf/utils/draft.py module from henrik@levkowetz.com.
  * Deployment note: Once the new release has been placed in its deployment
directory, and the correct settings_local.py has been copied in, a command
needs to be run in order to update the database tables to work with the new
code. In the directory containing the ietf/ directory, run this command:
        $ PYTHONPATH=$PWD ietf/manage.py migrate
The output should be as follows:
	Running migrations for liaisons:
	- Nothing to migrate.
	Running migrations for submit:
	 - Migrating forwards to 0003_add_extra_name_fields.
	 > submit: 0001_initial
	 > submit: 0002_add_submission_hash
	 > submit: 0003_add_extra_name_fields
	 - Loading initial data for submit.
Once this is done, the regular deployment routine should be continued.

The new version is available through SVN checkout, with
  'svn checkout http://svn.tools.ietf.org/svn/tools/ietfdb/tags/3.50'

Regards,

	Henrik

Hi,

This is an automatic notification about a new datatracker release,
v3.51, generated when running the mkrelease script.

Release notes:

ietfdb (3.51)
  * A very small bugfix release, providing the ability for secretariat staff
to post liaisons on behalf of others, and when doing so assuming the

Hi,

This is an automatic notification about a new datatracker release,
v3.52, generated when running the mkrelease script.

Release notes:

ietfdb (3.52)
  * A very small bugfix release, providing the ability for secretariat staff
to post liaisons on behalf of others, and when doing so assuming the
powers of the liaison manager they are posting for. This contains the
changes that should have been part of 3.51, but wasn't...

The new version is available through SVN checkout, with
  'svn checkout http://svn.tools.ietf.org/svn/tools/ietfdb/tags/3.52'

Regards,

	Henrik
	(via the mkrelease script)

Dear IETF Leadership -

For the past two weeks we have been operating out of our backup colocated
datacenter, for the dual purposes of (a) testing and verifying that such
operation would work as expected, and (b) moving us to upgraded server
hardware and operating software.

I'm pleased to report that, having reached the end of the two-week period,
it appears that everything has gone extremely well.

Apart from one individual who couldn't follos us over because he was using
an old hostfile-override, a brief delay in getting IPV6 reverse DNS
delegation in place, and a needed spam filter update to allow the telechat
agendas to pass through, I've been very pleased with the LACK of problems
pertaining to this test and upgrade. Everything has gone better than I
hoped.

It is now time to bring things back to our primary data center in Fremont,
and to the now newly-upgraded-and-cloned servers ready to go here, and we
will perform that process today, Monday, April 25th.

As before, we will bring the Orlando server down into a standby mode (the
server will be up but services like web, FTP, mail and rsync will be halted),
do a final controlled synchronization of data from the Orlando server to the
Fremont server, update the zone files, and then bring the Fremont server
online.

This procedure will begin at 1PM Pacific, 4PM Eastern, 2000GMT, and is
expected to take approximately two hours. It may take less, or more, but
if things are going to go beyond FOUR hours I will send a direct message
to each member of these lists, advising of the delay. Failing over, the
entire process took two hours and five minutes, so I'm estimating that as
a target time for fail-back as well.

Again, please remember - although I *hope* for no problems, I always *expect*
that there will be problems. So, as before, we will of course be monitoring
things from here, just to make sure everything works. Please report problems
in the usual manner (to IETF-ACTION). If you feel the need, you can email me
directly out of band at glen@amsl.com.

Thank you all for your patience as we bring this upgrade and test to a close.
As always, if there are any questions, please let me know.
