A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts director=
ies.
This draft is a work item of the Audio/Video Transport Payloads Working Gr=
oup of the IETF.

Title : RTP Payload Format for Bluetooth's SBC Audio Codec
	Author(s) : Christian Hoene
                          Frans de Bont
	Filename : draft-ietf-payload-rtp-sbc-03.txt
	Pages : 23
	Date : 2012-07-08

Abstract:
This document specifies a Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) payload
format to be used for the low complexity subband codec (SBC), which
is the mandatory audio codec of the Advanced Audio Distribution
Profile (A2DP) Specification written by the Bluetooth(r) Special
Interest Group (SIG). The payload format is designed to be able to
interoperate with existing Bluetooth A2DP devices, to provide high
streaming audio quality, interactive audio transmission over the
internet, and ultra-low delay coding for jam sessions on the
internet. This document contains also a media type registration
which specifies the use of the RTP payload format.

Hi,

I have finally gotten around to update this draft. Sorry, should have
kept it alive. This version does contain a number of changes.

- The RFC series multiple streams and the new IETF two maturity levels
are commented.
- More RTP transport robustness tools, mostly FEC have been added.
- Added reference to the Options for Security RTP Sessions and updated
the security consideration in the template to refer to this to try to
resolve the relation with SRTP not mandatory.
- Moved motivation why registration of media types are good from Other
SDO section to general Media Type section.
- A number of small clarifications or corrections of statements already
present.
- A number of editorial changes.
- Added the security concern with variable bit-rate (RFC 6562)
- Added a discussion of Application media types payload formats

As soon as we have gotten go-ahead from the Security ADs on that the
Options for RTP security (AVTCORE), the text in this draft and the
update of SRTP not-mandatory (AVTCORE) is what they expect I would
recommend that we go forward towards publication whit the RTP payload
HOWTO. Before even more changes ;-).

Cheers

Magnus Westerlund

Hi,

In this version we have removed the sections which were mainly a duplicatio=
n of the Bluetooth A2DP specification.
This was in response to the only comment we received on the -02 version.

On 5 Jan 2012, at 0:47, Colin Perkins wrote:
> The only outstanding issue I have is that there's a lot of duplication wi=
th the RTP payload format definition in Bluetooth A2DP specification. Can t=
his be removed, and done by reference, to avoid the risk of accidental chan=
ges?

We think this draft is now ready for WGLC.

Best regards,
Frans

Subject: Need volunteers for the NomCom

We are currently looking for volunteers to serve on the 2012-2013 NomCom.
As you know, the success of the NomCom process depends crucially on
having a large pool of volunteers from throughout the IETF community.
In particular, it is valuable for the pool of volunteers to have strong
representation from all of the technical areas within the IETF.

I understand that not all IETF participants read the IETF announce list
frequently. Therefore, if you would be willing to inform active participant=
s
in your working groups about this year's call for NomCom volunteers, I
would greatly appreciate it.

The NomCom 2012-2013 Call for Volunteers is open until this Sunday,
August 5. Details can be found at: https://datatracker.ietf.org/ann/nomcom/=
49851/

Thank you for your help,
