[as chair]

Today, we gauged the sentiment of the participants in the NETVC meeting
regarding the adoption of two documents as working group items. In both
cases, there was universal support for adoption among those who
expressed a sentiment. This message is a formal on-list confirmation of
the result of that poll. If you have comments about either of the
proposed adoptions, please send feedback to the mailing list no later
than Tuesday, November 17th.

The proposed adoptions are:

draft-daede-netvc-testing-02 as the basis for fulfilling the milestone
"Test result document to IESG, if the WG so chooses (Informational)"

draft-filippov-netvc-requirements-02 as the basis for fulfilling the
milestone " Requirements and evaluation criteria to IESG, if the WG so
chooses (Informational)"

Note that this call for adoption does not presuppose the outcome of the
clause "if the WG so chooses." We plan to call for consensus regarding
the decision to request publication of these documents as RFCs as the
working group concludes its work on them.

/a

=FDIn the results reported in the document, does the reference codec have d=
eblocking enabled? Maybe this was addressed before. But I cannot seem to lo=

It isn't really a matter of stronger vs weaker filter. The encoder can
turn the deringing filter on/off for every superblock, so any issue
would come down to how the encoder made the decision to keep the
filtered superblock. For example, the distortion function could be
missing something, or the encoder could be deciding to "sacrifice" some
region of the superblock to make another region better.

Cheers,

Daala does not have a deblcking filter, but rather a lapping
post-filter. Deringing is applied after the lapping post-filter.

Cheers,

So the deringing filter is also used as a post-filter, i.e. not in the pred=

Daala does not have a deblcking filter, but rather a lapping post-filter. D=
eringing is applied after the lapping post-filter.

If you are planning to participate in the NETVC session here at IETF 94 =
today =97 either locally in Yokohama or as a remote participant =97 we =
want to make sure that you are aware that the IETF is providing a remote =
participants with a fairly new way to ask questions or make comments. In =
addition to using the Jabber room, for the NETVC session there is also =
the opportunity for remote participants to enter a virtual queue and ask =
questions directly into the meeting room.=20

This experimental queue was used in several sessions at IETF 92 and IETF =
93, so you may have already seen it in action. There will be two queues =
for the NETVC session =97 a virtual queue and an actual (in-room) queue. =
Remote attendees will log into the Meetecho platform and will have a =
virtual mic line that they can enter if they have a question or comment. =
In-room participants will continue to use normal mic lines.=20

Instructions for remote participants are at =
http://ietf94.conf.meetecho.com/index.php/Remote_Participation.=20

Information on how to join the Meetecho session is at =
http://ietf94.conf.meetecho.com/.

Verify that you are WebRTC compliant (required to use the virtual queue) =
by performing a self-test here: =
http://ietf94.conf.meetecho.com/index.php/Self_Test.=20

Alexa

Vidyo has three test sequences that are part of the JCT-L1100 test set,
specifically FourPeople, Johnny, and KristenAndSara. Could they be made
available for NETVC testing as well?

Ali,

Try a Google search for; YUV sequences site:media.xiph.org

You should get ~12 hits for YUV sequences, but sorry, no horses or
kimonos. At the bottom of the search page, Google has some other search
recommendations for site:media.xiph.org. Good hunting,

Jon M. Kelley,

[as chair]

Hearing no objections, and having seen support in the face-to-face
meeting, these documents are now adopted as working group items.

The chairs request that the authors upload a copy of each document as
soon as practical, using the names draft-ietf-netvc-testing-00 and
draft-ietf-netvc-requirements-00. The contents of the document should be
substantively the same as the existing versions.

Thanks!

A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.
This draft is a work item of the Internet Video Codec Working Group of the IETF.

Title : <Video Codec Requirements and Evaluation Methodology>
        Author : Alexey Filippov

This document provides requirements for a video codec designed
mainly for use over the Internet. In addition, an evaluation
methodology needed for measuring the parameters (compression
efficiency, computational complexity, etc.) to ensure whether the
stated requirements are fulfilled or not.
